How much of each market is indexed, how much has been screened, and how much of what was screened passes. Counts come from the live universe, not from a sample.

| Country not established | 16,912 | 13,918 | 6,141 | 44% |
16,912 companies above could not be placed in a country — nothing we hold states where they are registered. Most of them still say where their shares trade, because the ticker names the exchange. That is a different fact from domicile, so it is reported separately rather than folded into the table above.

A suffix is evidence about the listing, not about the company — .L means the line trades in London, not that the issuer is British. Rows marked “assumed” carry no suffix at all: that is the default for an unsuffixed ticker, and it is the one line here the ticker does not actually state.
Indexed is not screened. A company is indexed once we know it exists and what it is called — an exchange publishes that. A verdict needs financials, and 9,408 of these 40,557 companies do not have them here yet. Those rows say so rather than guessing.
The pass rate is out of what was screened, never out of what was indexed. Quoting it the other way would make every market on this page look worse than the evidence supports.
A market reading “not screened yet” is not a market that failed. It is one nothing has established a verdict in. That is a different statement and this site keeps them apart.
One company in a country is not coverage of that country. A market appears on this page as soon as a single issuer we hold is registered there, so the thin rows near the bottom record where our data reaches — not a claim to have screened that market. Where fewer than 5 companies have been screened, the counts are shown in place of a pass rate, because a percentage drawn from one or two filings says more about the sample than the market.
